Story Three: Marco Polo

It's a terrible shame that this seven episode story is lost.  In the hopes that possibly it will turn up somewhere, I leave this as a placeholder.  For those interested in more details about this story, you can find a good bit of information here.

Story Three: The Edge of Destruction

The shortest story thusfar - and most limited in its environments - is The Edge of Destruction, which takes place entirely on the TARDIS.  It's a psychological little two-parter.  More after the jump.

Story Two: The Daleks

The Daleks are nearly as integral to the history of Doctor Who as The Doctor himself.  This is their first appearance.  The first time the Doctor and his companions leave earth, they come to Skaro, home of Daleks and the now more obscure Thalls many years after their apocalyptic civil war, where a neutron bomb has destroyed much of the planet's life.

Keep reading after the jump.

Story One: An Unearthly Child

While the first episode is an exception, this is a cave man story.  I think it's fair to say that with a story about time travel, cave men seem inevitable.  It's cliche, but I don't know if it was cliche in '63. Thankfully this is the only time in memory that the Doctor goes to cave man days.  It's not a horrible story, but certainly (first episode as exception) one of my least-favorite Hartnell-era stories.  It's the first historical Doctor Who as well.  Many of the first doctor's stories were historical (that is, they took place in a time of Earth's history)

You can find the synopsis in numerous places, and I'm not going to provide that here for many reasons.  If you haven't seen it, you shouldn't have everything spoiled for you, and if you have seen it, you already know.  If for some reason you did want a synopsis you can find them in numerous places online, including Tardis Data Core.  This said, there are and probably always will be spoilers in these posts.

A Childhood Dream

Like a billion other people, I have been a big fan of Doctor Who since I was young.  I never got to see them all back then, and I used to dream that one day I would have them all (at the time I imagined VHS), but with 159 or so stories, it seemed a daunting undertaking.

Many, many years later though, I'm very close to getting there.  By the time BBC America releases The Underwater Menace, I'll have all of them.  There are, of course, stories that are missing all or some of their episodes.  I've been able to access those too, albeit in still shot/audio format.  I've seen them all, but I've never watched them in order, from beginning to end.

As I watch each story from 1963-present, I'll blog about it here.  While it's mostly for my own enjoyment, I hope others can get some use/enjoyment out of it too.
